It is important to know that a neurotransmitter is a chemical substance that is released at the end of a nerve fiber by the arrival of a nerve impulse and, by diffusing across the synapse or junction, causes the transfer of the impulse to another nerve fiber, a muscle fiber, or some other structure. In the endocannabiloid system (see previous posts), many of the neurotransmitters respond to CBD. CBD has been known as a “neurotransmitter modulator”, meaning it increases neurotransmitter availability within the neurons enhancing serotonergic activity. The transmission of nerve-impulses, and enhancing the intra cellular communication is vitally important. The balance of the neurotransmitters is pivitol in regulaing normal body functions which include mood balance and emotional perceptions, memory and the sleep and wakefulness cycle.
